The Clarkson University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Justin Sperry as the Golden Knights' Alpine Skiing assistant coach for the 2015-16 season.
Sperry joins first-year head coach Micaela Holland, who served as the program's assistant the previous two years.
A 2014 graduate of Colby College after majoring in Geology and minoring in Computer Science, Sperry competed at the NCAA level with the Mules for four seasons, racing in 13 carnivals in both the slalom and giant slalom in the FIS Eastern Cup and Open FIS series. He finished 45th in the slalom at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championships to close out his career in February of 2013. Prior to racing at Colby College, Sperry spent 12 years as a member of the Gunstock Ski Club in Gilford, New Hampshire, where he was the first member to compete in the full Eastern Cup FIS circuit.
Sperry has gained coaching experience at several spots around the country, most recently at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club in Colorado, serving as an assistant FIS coach for U18 and U21 competitors. He also spent one year as the assistant coach at NCAA Division I program Bates College in 2013-14.
