Geneseo, NY – It appeared as if the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team would be headed to overtime against a SUNYAC opponent for the second time in four days, but an Erick Naula free kick found the head of Jon Jones in the 88th minute to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 win against Geneseo on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-1 on the season with the win, and the Green and Gold will take on St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon. Geneseo suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 2-1.

The two teams were scoreless in the first half, though not for lack of opportunity as each squad had three shots on the other's goal. The chances were down slightly in the second half, but Clarkson was able to capitalize on its final shot of the game. Naula was awarded a free kick about 30 yards down the left side and sent the ball into a busy box where Jon Jones was able to elevate above the crowd and redirect the ball into the upper center of the frame for the lone goal of the game at 87:44.

Michael King made six stops to earn his third shutout of the season, while Geneseo's Dillon Medd made five saves. Geneseo had modest advantages in shots (11-7) and corners (5-4).
