Sophomore Jenny Scudder took a pass from Lauren Quattrocchi and drained a 3-pointer from the corner with less than two seconds left to lift the St. Lawrence University Women's Basketball team to a 59-56 win over Clarkson University Wednesday night in a Liberty League matchup at Burkman Gymnasium in Canton.

St. Lawrence (16-8 overall, 9-6 Liberty League) gained possession late in the game after a foul and turnover committed by Clarkson (19-5, 12-3) on a rebound attempt giving the Saints a final possession with 14 seconds left. Quattrocchi dribbled up the court and drove past her defender into the lane before dishing the pass out to Scudder in the corner for the 3-pointer.

Clarkson inbounded the ball and had a half-court shot that was off the mark.

It was the first Liberty League loss for the Knights since the start of league play in December snapping a 12-game conference win streak.

St. Lawrence led early with a six-point lead in the first quarter but Clarkson came back and had a five-point advantage in the second quarter. A 3-pointer by Kaelyn Kohlasch gave the Saints a 28-25 lead heading into the halftime intermission.

In the third quarter the teams traded baskets early before Kohlasch sparked a 10-0 run with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer. Two free throws by Scudder after a bench technical foul and a layup by Sarah Thomas capped the run giving St. Lawrence a 422-33 lead late in the quarter and the Saints took a five-point lead at 44-39 into the final quarter.

A Caroline Dalton 3-pointer made it an eight-point lead early in the quarter but Clarkson battled back and took a 52-50 lead with 4:44 to play on a 3-pointer.

After a free throw gave the Knights a three-point advantage, Kohlasch hit another 3-pointer to knot the game at 53-53 at the 3:23 mark.

Scudder nailed a 3-pointer at the 1:15 mark and the Knights answered with a 3-pointer to tie the game 25 seconds later.

After a Saint turnover, Clarkson had a missed jumper but on the ensuing rebound, the foul was called against Clarkson giving the Saints the final shot.

Kohlasch led the Saints with 20 points on five 3-pointers and Scudder added 18 off the bench with four 3-point baskets. Quattrocchi finished with five assists and was tied with Scudder with a team-leading five rebounds. The Saints shot 44% (22-for-50) from the field and connected on 42% (11-of-26) 3-pointers. Clarkson was limited to 30% shooting (19-for-63).

The Saints finish the regular season with a road game at Skidmore at 2 pm Sunday.
