Hulton wins 1500 as Saints women open Outdoor Track and Field Season at Rochester

Jenna Hulton won the 1500 meters and finished fourth in the 800 meters as St. Lawrence University's women's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a solid showing in the non-scoring Rochester Spring Invitational at the University of Rochester on Saturday.

Hulton ran 4:43.66 in the 1500 meeting ECAC qualifying standards and beating runner-up Laura Norton of Rochester by over two seconds. She came back later in the meet to run 2:25.34 for her fourth place finish in the 800.

Other top track performances for the Saints included a second in 1:08.00 in the 400 hurdles by Carly Stine with Jessica Marini third just .09 behind Stine. McKayla Nuffer was second in a ECAC qualifying time of 18:18.51 with Elizabeth Edwards also meeting the ECAC standard with a third place finish in 18;29.68 in the 5000. Hannah Kinsey was second in the 200 in 26.88 and finished fourth in the 100 in 12.99 while the 4x400 relay team of Stine, Staci Czaja, Emily Rebehn and Marini was fifth in 4:18.16.

Diedra Beller finished 7th in the steeplechase, Czaja was ninth in the 400 meters and the 4x100 relay team finished seventh.

In field event competition, Kristen Linder was second with a 11.78 meter throw in the shot put with Jessica Ingalls eighth. Linder was sixth, Heather Cutler ninth and Ingalls 10th in the javelin while Samantha Weber was second with a 29.19 meter throw and Ingalls was third with a 28.15 meter mark in the javelin. Jessica Tyree was fifth, Cutler sixth and Linder seventh in the discus.

In the jumps, Emily Bell was second with a 1.58 meter jump and Stine was seventh in the high jump. Tori Bean was third in the long jump at 4.76 meters and fourth with Rebehn fifth and Bell seventh in the triple jump. Caitlin Boreyko and Taylor Washington tied for eighth in the pole vault.
