HOW IT HAPPENED

Holliday was the lone Canton player to finish in double figures with 17 points shooting 6-for-11 from the field. Jordan Stewart chipped in nine points and three assists and Andrew Fitch and Danny Santana totaled seven points apiece. Fitch hauled down a team-best seven rebounds.

The Saxons opened the game on a 15-0 run holding the Roos scoreless over the opening five minutes until Holliday hit a three-pointer. Alfred led by as many as 21 in the opening half before Canton closed the half on a 6-0 run to trail 39-24 at intermission.

Canton trimmed the deficit to 10 at 47-37 with 14:21 remaining after a pair of Santana free throws but the Saxons responded with a 12-2 run to balloon the lead to 20 mid-way through the half. The Roos were only able to get within 13 the remainder of the way.

Dom LeMorta paced the Saxons with 20 points, while Sage Brown (17), Cole Eells (15) and Brewster Marshall (12) all scored in double figures.

Alfred turned 13 Canton turnovers into 24 points, while Canton scored 13 points off just eight Saxon turnovers.
