COLTON -- A rainy Saturday failed to dampen the spirits of over 40 riders who participated in this year’s Higley 100 Bike Tour.
Route designer David Tritart altered the course to allow cyclists to complete one or two of the 31-mile and 62-mile loops. Several chose the longer option despite the rain, which was heavy at times.
Following the event last Saturday riders and volunteers enjoyed a chicken barbecue, with volunteer Frank Vaisey serving as the grill master.
Everyone who began the ride finished and pronounced it a fun event.
The annual bicycle tour benefits the Friends of Higley Flow State Park. This is the primary fundraiser for the group, who were instrumental in the construction of the lodge at the state park, as well as supporting park programs, and in the winter season providing trail maintenance and grooming for the cross-country ski and snowshoe trails.
