Senior Cassia Hameline continued an impressive start to her collegiate cross country career, running the sixth fastest time in course history to win the individual title and lead the Saints to the team win in the 23rd annual Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational on Saturday.

Hameline completed the 6 kilometer course in 22:07.79 for an 11-second win over University of Ottawa runner Katie Phillips. Saint sophomore Lisa Grohn was third, senior Anne Martino finished fifth, Saint rookie Megan Kellogg was sixth and senior Anna Rabideau was 10th, giving the Saints five scorers in the top ten.

SLU, ranked first in the NCAA Atlantic Region and third in the nation, finished with 25 points with Ottawa, which bunched its top five runners in the top 11, second with 33 points, Plattsburgh third with 93 followed by Clarkson with 111, Carleton University with 150, Paul Smith's with 181, SUNY Canton at 206 and Potsdam at 210.

Hameline averaged 5:56.2 per mile to lead the Saints for the third time in three races and won her second individual title of the year. It was her first race at the 6000 meter distance and she led the 90 runner field into the finish chute after a good battle with Phillips throughout the race. Hameline is in her first season of cross country after three years of competing solely in track and field.

Grohn ran 22:29.39 while Martino was clocked in 22:42.06 and Kellogg in 22:46.76. Rabideau finished in 23:27.39 to complete the Saint scoring while Ashley Leta was 13th in 23:38.62 and Carrie Pomainville was 21st in 24:47.59 to round out the Saint top seven.

Courtney Mullen finished 37th in 26:01.93, Claire Pacione was 39th in 26:16.02 with Melanie Swick 40th in 26:23.76 and Sophia Dastoli was 42nd in 26:24.15. India Harvey finished 46th, Hannah Fake 38th, Madeline Funk was 49th, Bridget Benz was 47th, Ella Gurney 64th, Alexis Bruno 71st and Rachel Waldrop was 75th for the Saints.

The Saints will measure themselves against Division I and II competition next weekend when they run in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.
