Senior Samantha Haab scored two goals and her twin sister Kim made seven saves as St. Lawrence University's field hockey team completed its season with a 2-1 win at St. John Fisher on Saturday.
The Saints finish their year at 5-12 while St. John Fisher competes its regular season with a 12-6 record.
Sam Haab scored the game's first goal six minutes into the game as she took a cross from Kara Pelosi and slid the ball past goalkeeper Danielle Famolaro for her fifth of the year. Haab made it a 2-0 game 1:31 into the second half when she took a cross from Lucy Stillman and scored and Kim Haab made it stand up as her sister's first game-winner of the year and the fourth of her career.
While Emily Markarian scored from the center circle for Fisher at the 45:40 mark, Kim Haab made six of her seven saves in the second half to protect the lead and earn the win. The Saint penalty corner defense also came up with a big day, stopping all nine Cardinal penalty corner tries.
St. John Fisher outshot the Saints overall 24-9, but the on-goal count was a much closer 8-7 with Famolaro finishing with five saves for the Cardinals. Fisher had a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners.
