Kalie Grant scored two goals and Sonjia Shelly made 20 saves to lead the No. 9/10 St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 3-0 win over Union College in front of a crowd of 1,157 at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex in Rochester, New York, on Saturday night.

The win was the 200th career victory for Saints' head coach Chris Wells '92, now in his 11th season on the bench for St. Lawrence.

St. Lawrence improved to 6-5-1 overall, 2-0-0 in ECAC Hockey play with their second consecutive conference shutout after a 5-0 win over Rensselaer on Friday night. Union fell to 2-8-1, 0-2-0.

"It was a great evening of hockey in Rochester tonight," said Wells. "Legacy Sports did a bang up job putting this together to be able to play down here in front of the Fire and Ice Tournament. Union came at us quick and Shelly made some nice stops to keep them off the board. We found our rhythm and started to create plenty of chances. A sweep in our league is always a great weekend. We will take some time to rest up this week and then start to get ready for our first ECAC road trip in two weeks."

Grant's first goal gave the Saints a 1-0 lead with just under two minutes to play in the first period. With the Saints skating on their first power play of the game, Grant took a pass from Steph Keryluk on the left side and swept the puck past Union goaltender Coco Francis for her first goal of the season.

Skylar Podvey increased the lead to two goals seven and a half minutes into the second period, taking a centering pass from Maggie McLaughlin and firing a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle for her third goal of the season.

Grant wrapped up the scoring with a wrist shot from the high slot glove side with just over five minutes to play in the second period.

Francis made 31 saves for Union, as the Saints outshot the Dutchwomen 34-20.

The Saints were 1-for-2 on the power play; Union had just one power play opportunity.

St. Lawrence has next weekend off, then goes on the road for conference games against Yale and Brown on November 16-17.
