Castleton, VT – For the second straight weekend, Deven Grant and Madeline Hewitt led the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross-country teams each finishing in 16th place at the Castleton Invitational on Saturday.
Both teams posted fifth place finishes on the day, with each race consisting of eight teams.
Hewitt completed the 5-kilometer course in 24:11 good for 16th place, while Samantha Smith and Kim McCarthy were not far behind with finishes in 21st (25:36) and 22nd (25:39) place. Kaitlyn Trusty (38th – 28:05) and Allison Ford (39th – 28:20) rounded out the top five for the women.

Grant and Paul Ford again led the way for the Roos with 16th and 17th place finishes with times of 30:40 and 30:58 over the 8-kilometer course. Luke Ducharme (24 – 32:23), Jonathan Dunham (26th – 32:38), and Anthony Fazio (32 – 34:33) added solid finishes rounding out the top five.
For the men's division, Union College took home first place on Saturday finishing with 51 points well ahead the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (73). Albany College (51) finished in first place on the women's side edging Castleton (67).

The cross country teams return to the trails next Saturday, September 16th when they take part in the Johnson State Invitational. The women take off at 10:30 a.m. followed by the men at 11:15 a.m.
