The St. Lawrence University alpine ski teams competed in the giant slalom on Friday, as the Saints host the 2015 NCAA Regional Championships at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY. Hayes Graham and Maria Hillenbrand were the top finishers for the Scarlet and Brown, leading both the men's and women's teams to seventh place in the standings.

Graham picked up St. Lawrence's highest finish on the day in 20th place overall in the men's GS. The Park City, UT native was 13th after the first run before holding on for his third top-20 of 2015. Taber Engelken and Kei Kullberg capped the Saints scoring in 25th and 29th, respectively, for a total of 58.0 points. Loudon Fruth (40th), Nick Stenicka (42nd) and Riley Greene (DNF 2nd) also competed for head coach Willi Steinrotter.

Hillenbrand picked up her fourth top-25 showing of her senior season, finishing in 22nd place in the women's GS. The Steamboat Springs, CO native moved up in the standings after a top-20 second run. She was joined in the scoring by first-years Sydney Henegan (24th) and Julia Ristine (35th), as the trio managed 50.0 points.

Sophia Frankenburg and Kelly Appenzeller were 50th and 51st, respectively, while senior Allison Visconti did not finish her second run.

William St. Germain of UVM earned the individual title in the men's race, but it was the University of New Hampshire that went on to win the team title. Kristina Riis-Johannessen of UVM also won the women's race, and led her Catamounts to victory in the GS.

Teams will compete again tomorrow, Saturday, February 28 in the slalom at the NCAA Regionals/SLU Carnival, with student-athletes having one last shot to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship field.
