After going down by an early goal, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team rallied for a 2-1 win at Utica College on Tuesday night.

Clarkson's record now stands at 7-3-1 overall. The seven wins for the Golden Knights is the highest total for the team since they recorded eight victories in 2011. Utica's record now stands at 2-8-2.

15 minutes into the game, Clarkson found itself trailing by a goal. Ciara McIlvenney was able to direct her shot under a diving Anna Demasi for the first goal of the game.

The Green and Gold did not take long to answer. In the 20th minute, Summer Gillespie ripped a shot into the left corner from the top of the box for her sixth goal of the year. Those six goals place Gillespie in a tie for seventh in Clarkson history for goals in a single season.

Clarkson took the lead in the 43rd minute. Off a corner kick, Tori Sailor found Courtney Black, who was able to direct the ball into the net. It was the second consecutive game where Black has scored a goal, and the third time overall this season.

The second half saw both teams have chances, but neither team could capitalize and the score finished at 2-1.

Clarkson held a 18-7 advantage in shots and took eight corner kicks to Utica's three. Demasi made three saves for Clarkson with Kimberly Beattie and Jamie Enders both making five stops for the Pioneers.

Clarkson will return to Liberty League action on Saturday when it hosts RIT for a 12:00 noon game.
