After six straight wins to open its season, the Clarkson Women's Soccer team dropped its first game when the Golden Knights lost to Nazareth 4-2 on Saturday afternoon on Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson now holds a record of 6-1-0 while Nazareth improves its own record to 5-1-1.

Nazareth opened the scoring in the 10th minute. A long ball was played into the Clarkson box and Rachel Dise was the first one to get to it and she finished into an open Clarkson net. It was the first time all season that Clarkson had trailed.

The lead did not last very long however. In the 15th minute, Nikki Carfi swung in a corner kick and it fell to the feet of Madison Kather who buried it to tie the score.

Nazareth scored two more goals before the end of the first half. First, in the 27th minute, Paige Sullivan sent a corner kick into the Clarkson box and Briana Vibbard was there to score and break the deadlock. 11 minutes later, Kate Billington found Jessica Byrnes behind the Clarkson defense and Byrnes calmly finished into the lower right corner to make the score 3-1.

Clarkson pulled back a goal twelve minutes into the second half, again through a corner kick. Carfi played the ball into the box and Summer Gillespie headed it to fellow freshman Carlee Casey who scored to draw the Golden Knights within a goal.

Nazareth regained a two goal cushion in the 66th minute. Byrnes chipped a ball over the Clarkson defense to Danielle Wilkin who scored.

Nazareth finished the game with an 11-5 advantage in shots while Clarkson held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Anna Demasi made six saves in goal for Clarkson while Allison Dobles made one stop in the Nazareth net.

Clarkson's next game will be next Saturday. The Golden Knights will open their Liberty League schedule by playing host to Skidmore in a 3:00 pm game.
