With one offensive explosion and one extra inning victory, the Clarkson University Softball team runs its winning streak to a season high three games. The Golden Knights dominated Sewanee University of the South 13-3 before beating Buffalo State 6-5 in nine innings.

Clarkson is now 5-3 on the season. Sewanee falls to 1-12 while Buffalo State is 1-5.

Against Sewanee, Clarkson was tied 1-1 at the end of the second inning, but after that the Golden Knights' offense took off. Ali Schwenzfeier ripped a two run home run in the top of the third to make the score 3-1. Clarkson added two more runs in the top of the fourth when Hannah Sheehan hit a double that scored Karlie Neuhausser and Maggie Stark. Hannah Isaacson added a single in the fifth that scored Samm Swiesz.

Sewanee got one run back in the bottom of the fifth, but in the sixth inning, Clarkson blew out the Tigers. Clarkson sent 13 players to the plate in the sixth and scored seven runs. Sewanee got one run back in the bottom of the sixth, but that was it as Clarkson won by the ten run rule.

Maggie Stark picked up her first win of the season with a complete game on the mound.

In the second game of the day, Clarkson led early, but it took nine innings for the Green and Gold to finally put away Buffalo State.

Bridget Woolley got Clarkson ahead with a two run single in the second inning as Erika Jensen and Schwenzfeier scored. The Tigers got one run back in the third, but Clarkson immediately answered in its half as Michele Winn's sacrifice fly scored Summer Lancette.

Buffalo State scored a run in both the fourth and fifth to tie the score at three. Once again though, Clarkson regained the lead in the sixth. It was Schwenzfeier who came through for Clarkson as she hit her second home run of the day. Jamie Bridge also scored on Schwenzfeier's round tripper.

Buffalo State was down to its final two outs, but five straight Tigers reached base to not only tie the game, but also load the bases with one out in the inning. However, Bridge got a strikeout and a ground out to keep the game tied.

After Clarkson could not score in the bottom of the seventh, the teams went to extra innings which started with a runner on second base. Neither team scored in the eighth, but Buffalo State had runners on second and third with no outs in the ninth. However, Bridge once again got out of the jam without allowing any runs to score. That proved pivotal as Jensen singled in the bottom of the ninth to score Neuhausser and earn Clarkson a walk off win.

Katie Pelton started the game and threw the first five innings. Bridge then relieved Pelton and threw the last four innings to get the win. Clarkson continues its Florida trip with games against Tufts and Babson on Sunday.
