Thousand Oaks, CA – Down 11-6 late in the fifth and deciding set, the Clarkson University Volleyball team won nine of the next 10 points to gain a thrilling victory over 11th-ranked California Lutheran to complete a sweep of West Coast teams on day two of the Cal Lu Fornia Tournament.

The Golden Knights opened Saturday's matches with a three-set win over Pomona-Pitzer (26-24, 25-15, 26-24) before outlasting Cal Lutheran in five sets (24-26, 22-25, 29-27, 25-16, 15-12) with a come-from-behind effort. Clarkson improved to 5-2 on the season with the pair of victories.

After dropping the first two sets to the Regals, the Knights could have folded up the day and hopped on the plane back for New York, but Clarkson wouldn't let up in the third set despite facing a two-point deficit late twice (23-21, 24-22). A big block kept the Knights in the match and then an ace from Rachel Reusch tied the match at 24-24, and Clarkson completed its third set comeback by forcing the Regals into two attack errors.

After an impressive win in the fourth set, Clarkson looked to have momentum on its side, but quickly fell behind by three points (7-4). A Maddie Bredehoeft kill slowed the run slightly, but Cal Lutheran won four of the next five points to take an 11-6 advantage. Kendall Cheval's kill made it 11-7, seemingly only slowing the inevitable win for the host school. Two hitting errors pulled Clarkson to within two but another kill for the Regals made it 12-9. That was the last point Cal Lutheran would score, though, as Rachel Reusch and Maddie Bredehoeft recorded kills and the Knights rode out long rallies to jump ahead 13-12. A dual block by Haley Aud and Reusch made it 14-12 and Reusch then denied another attack at the middle of the net to give Clarkson the win.

An incredible 488 attacks and 262 digs were recorded in the lengthy match by the two teams. Four Clarkson players surpassed double digits in digs, with Kate Isaksen notching 41 for a match-high. Meghan Edmund also recorded 28 digs and Maddie Bredehoeft added 25 digs to go along with a match-high 17 kills. Reusch finished with 14 kills and six total blocks and Savannah Peters chipped in 10 kills and five blocks. Amanda Collins and Haley Aud produced 27 and 24 assists, respectively.

For Cal Lutheran, Paris Dosch had a team-best 15 kills as one of 13 players to score at least two kills in the match for the Regals. Jennifer Kent added 47 assists and 13 digs and Madison Karcich led the team with 24 digs.
