Potsdam, NY - Hitting .358 overall with just five attack errors, the Clarkson University Volleyball team needed just an hour to continue its streak of winning in-region matches to 37 as the Golden Knights dispatched SUNY Canton in three sets 25-19, 25-12, 25-20 at Roos House on the campus of SUNY Canton.

The Golden Knights, ranked 17th in the latest AVCA poll improved to 7-2 on the season with their third straight victory, while the Kangaroos fell to 4-4 overall. Clarkson will continue against New York opponents this weekend at the RIT Tournament.

"Our mission for tonight was to be in better control of the emotional flow of the match," head coach Johan Dulfer said. "I thought we did a good job controlling that in front of a nice crowd. It felt throughout that we were confident about getting the points at the right time. Canton has made huge strides the past few seasons and is very well coached and we were happy to get the victory tonight."

Clarkson fell behind early by a few points in the opening set, but turned a one-point deficit midway through the first set into a three-point lead (16-13) forcing SUNY Canton to take a timeout. The stoppage didn't slow the Knights down as they captured four of the next five points and cruised to a 25-19 win. The second set was never in doubt, as Clarkson won 13 of the first 20 points and maintained the pace for a 25-12 win, but the third set appeared to be a toss up throughout. It wasn't until Clarkson edged its 20-18 advantage into a five-point lead that the Knights were comfortable enough to finish off the match at 25-20.

A diverse lineup with different faces helped Clarkson to the win on Wednesday, though mainstay junior Victoria Kirkemo (Englewood, CO) was a prominent player with 11 kills and just two errors in 24 swings (.375 hitting percentage) to go along with 13 digs and a pair of aces. Senior middle Adrienne Walker (Centennial, CO) also hit .500 with seven kills in 14 attempts, while sophomore Katrina Lane (Seattle, WA) had eight kills and an error in 17 attempts (.412) and Rachael Aird (East Syracuse, NY) added six kills with just one error in 13 attempts (.385). Kirstie Shurie (LaCanada, CA) posted 32 assists on 39 kills and Hannah Jones (Arrowhead, CA) produced 10 digs and a pair of aces.
