The season isn't quite over for the Clarkson University Softball team as the Golden Knights earned the number-two seed in the ECAC Metro/Upstate Tournament to be held this week in Hoboken, NJ by the Stevens Institute of Technology.
The Golden Knights finished off the regular season with a record of 18-13 overall, tripling their win total from the inaugural season of 2014. Clarkson will play the third game of the five-team tournament, following a play-in game on Wednesday and the opener on Saturday. The Green and Gold will face Sage College (18-15) on Saturday afternoon and will move on to play at least one more game in the tournament as the set up is double-elimination.
Stevens Institute (26-9-1) was awarded the top seed and Sage was the third seed. Hunter College (19-9) is the fourth seed and will host Brooklyn College (20-18), the fifth seed, on Wednesday.
Clarkson finished the regular season ranked second in the Liberty League in offense, hitting .304/.375/.396 with 52 stolen bases and averaging more than five runs per game. The team also had the top defense in the conference with a .962 fielding percentage and was fourth in ERA at 3.22.
