Marco Parisi (Guilford, C.T.) scored a goal and had an assist on another as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team defeated SUNY Potsdam 2-0 Sunday on Hantz Turf Field.

With Clarkson adding a win to their record and Potsdam picking up a loss, both teams leave the game with identical 5-3-1 records.

Parisi would notch his team-leading fourth assist 20 minutes into the first half. Clarkson won a free kick on the left side of the field and Parisi played a dangerous ball into the middle of the box. Amid a crowd of players, Eric Herberger (East Aurora, N.Y.) was able to get his head onto the ball and push it past the Potsdam keeper, Nick Davies.

Parisi would finish the scoring in the 60th minute. Sophomore Brian Kroetz (Pittsford, N.Y) beat a defender on the right side of the field and played a cross along the ground and Parisi was the first to reach it, putting his shot to the right of Davies and into the net. It was his second goal of the year and gives him a team-leading eight points.

The Green and Gold played solid defense all game long, not allowing Potsdam to get any clear chances. Sophomore goalkeeper Michael King (Verona, N.J.) made five saves in the Clarkson net to secure his fourth shutout of the year, while Davies had three saves for the Bears.

Clarkson will head to SUNY Canton for their final game before the Liberty League schedule begins. The game with the Kangaroos will start at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night.
