Freshman Christine Wright (Watertown, NY) and junior Kara DiNatale (Auburn, NH) helped the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team to a 2-0 week and were further rewarded on Monday when each gained Liberty League Weekly honors.
Wright was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the second straight stretch while DiNatale claimed her first Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week award.
Wright was all over the field for the Golden Knights in a pair of victories over the weekend, scoring seven goals and adding four assists as well as contributing 11 groundballs and seven caused turnovers. In a 12-11 triple-overtime victory against Utica College, Wright had two goals and four assists, including the game-winning goal in sudden-death. Against Keuka College on Sunday, she scored five goals and was a key performer on draws and on defense as well.
So far this season, Wright's name is all over the Liberty League leaderboards, placing fourth in goals (11), third in assists (6), third in points (17), fifth in draw controls (12) and fourth in caused turnovers (6).
DiNatale allowed just 6.07 goals per game, earning the win in triple-overtime against Utica and allowing only two of the three goals that Keuka earned on Sunday. She posted a 55.6% save percentage in the wins to improve to 3-0 on the season. So far this season, DiNatale has allowed just 6.85 goals per game (second in the conference), and has a 52.4% save percentage (second in the conference). She also ranks third in the league in total saves with 22.
