Ryan Cole (Orchard Park, NY) didn't have his season end the way that he had hoped as the Clarkson Men's Lacrosse team came up short in overtime of the Liberty League Championship Game, but the senior goalkeeper came away with Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week honors on Monday after an outstanding final weekend.
Cole made 24 saves on 39 shots (.615 save percentage) over the weekend, making 10 saves and allowing just five goals to St. Lawrence in the Liberty League Semifinals. In the championship game he was equally impressive, making 14 stops on 24 shots against third-ranked RIT. He also had a pair of groundballs in each game.
For the season, Cole, a Second-Team Liberty League All-Star, made 182 saves and a 7.94 goals against average. His .597 save percentage was also second in the conference. Cole finished his career as Clarkson's all-time leader in saves with 593 and his 28 victories are the third most ever for Golden Knights' goaltenders.
