With over 200 minutes of scoreless soccer hanging over their heads, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team came out firing and put three goals past SUNY IT for a 3-0 win on Wednesday night.
With the win, Clarkson improves their record to 3-1-1, while SUNY IT falls to 1-2-1.
Within the first seven minutes, the scoreless streak would be broken, but not by any of the Golden Knights. Senior Trevor Blackwell (Pittsford, N.Y.) took a free kick and it deflected off a Wildcat player into the goal for the first own goal of the season.
Just ten minutes into the second half, Clarkson would double their lead when sophomore Tucker Wilcox (Broadalbin, N.Y.) scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Maximillian Leetz (Bredeux, Germany) to make the scoreline 2-0. Brian Kroetz (Pittsford, N.Y.) would complete the scoring when he scored his first career goal at 87:17. Sophomore Troy White (Unadilla, N.Y.) delivered the pass to earn his first career assist.
Clarkson outshot SUNY IT 15-13 in the game. Michael King (Verona, N. J.) stopped six shots for Clarkson and earned his third shutout of the season. Clarkson will stay on the road this weekend when they travel to play Buffalo State at 3:00 pm on Saturday and then to Alfred University for a 1:00 pm start on Sunday.
