Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, NY) has been the defensive backbone for the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team throughout the first six games this season and on Monday she was rewarded as the Liberty League Defender of the Week.
Kenline posted a 1-1-1 record overall in goal for the Golden Knights last week, including a 1-0 shutout over Plattsburgh State on Wednesday, Clarkson's first victory over the Cardinals since 1992. In that game she posted four saves to record her third shutout of the year. Though Kenline allowed scores in the next two games, she was called upon much more frequently to make stops. In a 1-1 tie against Elmira, Kenline made 14 saves, and in a 1-0 overtime loss to St. John Fisher she recorded eight more saves.
Overall this year, Kenline leads the Liberty League in total saves (39) and saves per game (6.5 spg). She ranks second overall in goals allowed per game at 0.34.
