Freshman Greg Jasek (Chittenango, NY) tossed a complete-game shutout over Skidmore on Saturday, and the Clarkson University Baseball newcomer was honored by the conference on Monday when he was picked as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week.
Jasek, a pitcher and catcher, earned his first career victory with the four-hit, seven-inning performance, but he has pitched well all season, posting a 1.50 earned run average in his team-leading 18 innings. He has struck out 11 hitters thus far and walked just one while allowing hitters a miniscule .200 batting average. At the plate this weekend, Jasek also drove in five runs and scored three more in the four-game set against Skidmore. Despite playing in just nine of the team's 12 games, Jasek leads the team in runs batted in with 10 and is hitting .304.
Junior David Wixted (Ballston Lake, NY) was also picked to the Liberty League Honor Roll. Wixted batted .500 over the weekend with a team-best eight hits.
