POTSDAM, N.Y.- Strong second half lifted the College at Brockport (6-10, 4-5 SUNYAC) to a 62-47 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball (1-14, 0-9 SUNYAC) Friday night at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. Sophomore guard Drew Dufrane (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) led the Bears with 15 points. Fellow freshman forwards Naya Walters (Bronx, N.Y./Women's Academy of Excellence) and Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) each grabbed nine rebounds. This marked a career-high for Walters, while Hansen tied her career-high for the third time this season.

Junior guard Abbey Smith (Bainbridge, N.Y./Bainbridge-Guilford) finished with five points with Hansen chipping in four during the first quarter. Four different Golden Eagles tallied points for their 10-point total.

Dufrane accounted for all of the Bears' 13 points in the second by knocking down back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers and hitting a jumper and a layup. Brockport distributed the ball well for a 20-point total to take a 30-22 lead heading into the half.

The Golden Eagles held the 14-9 advantage to finish the third quarter and preserved their 44-31 lead. Freshman forward Hannah Marcellus (Potsdam, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington), junior guard Mikayla Horton (Hammond, N.Y./Hammond), Dufrane and Hansen each tacked on points for Potsdam.

Brockport scored 11 of their 18 points in the fourth from the free throw line to add to their lead and take the 62-47 victory. Six different Bears contributed to Potsdam's 16 points during the 10-minute span.

Smith finished with nine points and four assists for Potsdam, while Marcellus knocked in seven.

Senior forward Lindsay Johnson (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Junior forward Emily Nestler (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) led the Golden Eagles with 20 points and nine boards. Freshman guard Zaria McCullough (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) tallied 12 points and three assists.

Potsdam is back tomorrow with SUNY Geneseo. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
