BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport (10-4-3, 5-2-2 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (6-10, 2-7) 7-1 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Theodore Bruschini (Wilton, N.Y./South Glens Falls) scored for the Bears.
Bruschini struck quickly for Potsdam, heading home a pass from senior defender Spencer Johnston (Valatie, N.Y./Hudson Valley C.C) just 54 seconds into the contest. The luck was not to last as the Golden Eagles struck four times in a 19-minute span, including two from Cameron Beale. Beale tied the game at 21:02 and Justin Mercer netted the eventual game-winner at 29:40. Beale notched his second at 35:40 and former Bear Connor DeSantis made it 4-1 at 39:27.
In the second half, Mercer scored his second at 57:53. Ryan Cullen found the back of the net at 68:22 and Michael Duren closed the scoring at 87:56.
Potsdam sophomore goalie Jakeb Mitchell (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) allowed four goals and made a save in the first half. Senior Keagen Briggs (Peru, N.Y./Seton Catholic) made three saves and allowed three goals in the second half. Brockport's Joseph Romano allowed a goal and made a save in the first 45 minutes. Kyle McCane didn't face a shot in the second half.
The Bears wrap up the season at Clarkson University's Hantz Field at 7 p.m.
