Carson Gicewicz's second goal of the game with 4:35 to play in regulation gave the St. Lawrence men's hockey team its first lead of the night and its first ECAC Hockey win, as the Saints beat Brown 3-2 in Appleton Arena on Friday.

Arthur Brey finished with 37 saves in the win for the Saints, including 18 in the third period, two of which came after Brown pulled netminder Luke Kania for the extra attacker. Kania made 33 stops for the Bears in the loss.

The Saints came back twice, once in both the first and second periods, after falling behind 1-0 and 2-1. Alex Gilmour scored the first goal for the Scarlet and Brown, while Gicewicz notched his first of the game late in the second to send the teams into the final frame tied at 2-2.

First-year defenseman Cameron White picked up his first collegiate point with an assist on the Gilmour tally and Nolan Gluchowski added a pair of helpers to bring his team-high total to 15 on the year.

With the win, the Saints snapped a four-game slide and improve to 5-18-2 overall with a 1-11-1 mark in ECAC Hockey games. Brown falls to 6-12-3 and 5-10-0 in conference games.

Brown got on the board early with a power play goal at 1:47 on a shot from the point by Zach Giuttari to take a 1-0 lead.

The Saints answered with Gilmour's goal at 6:17 of the frame, when he tipped a shot from White in the left circle and beat Kania high over his left shoulder for 1-1 game. It was the first goal for the sophomore since Nov. 10 at Yale.

Late in the second period, the Saints were denied a late change leaving a tired line on the ice to take a defensive zone draw, which Brown won to keep St. Lawrence pinned in deep and eventually setting up the second goal.

Brey made a stick save on a shot from the point by Max Gottlieb, but Alec Mehr was waiting on the far post to knock the rebound out of the air and behind the Yorba Linda, California native to give Brown a 2-1 lead.

Just over two and half minutes later, the Saints got an Appleton bounce on a hard dump off the end boards by Gluchowski that skipped right into the slot. Kania tried to poke check it away but missed and left the net wide open for the Saints. Cusinato tried to corral the loose puck, but it was Gicewicz that buried the equalizer at 17:55.

With time winding down in the third, the Orchard Park, New York native got his stick in a passing lane and poke checked the puck free to the blue line, setting up a 2-on-1 with Mike Marnell. Gicewicz looked off Kania and beat him with a wrister short side while three players converged on him to seal the win for the Saints.

Gicewicz has now scored in four straight and carries a seven game points streak into Saturday night's game against Yale. Puck drop against the Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m.
