POTSDAM, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (8-9, 3-7 SUNYAC) falls in heartbreaker to SUNY Geneseo (9-8, 6-4 SUNYAC) 76-74 Saturday afternoon. Sophomore guard Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching) and junior forward Serigne Kane (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Prep) each finished with 19 points, for game-highs, to led the Bears. For the Knights, sophomore guard Tommy Eastman (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) had a game-high eight rebounds and put up 16 points, while senior guard Kevin Crockett (Breezy Point, N.Y./Xaiver) matched Eastman with eight boards and added 15 points.

Geneseo jumped out to an early 10-point lead after a Crockett three at the 16:03 minute mark. This ignited Potsdam's offense for a 20-9 run that spanned over the next eight minutes of play. The run was capped by a layup from Delsol-Lowry that got the Bears their first lead of the contest. See-saw play continued over the remaining minutes of the first with multiple lead changes, but the Knights held on to a 38-35 lead heading into the locker room.

Three 3-pointers from Potsdam gave the Bears a two-point lead, but Eastman tied the game once more with a layup with 17:29 to go. The Bears went on a mini 10-3 run that was capped with a three from Delsol-Lowry to get out to their largest lead of seven at the 15:07 minute mark. Geneseo grabbed the lead at 8:49 after a three from junior guard Zack Panebianco (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown), but once again Potsdam answered. A 13-5 run got the Bears' lead out to seven after a layup from sophomore guard Jayquan Thomas (Hollis, N.Y./Richmond Hill) with 3:14 remaining on the clock. The Knights scored nine straight points to get back to a two-point lead before a foul on Delsol-Lowry sent him to the line. He knocked down both free throws to tie the game once more with 24 seconds to go. After a timeout from both sides, the game resumed. Geneseo ran out the clock until about 10 seconds left to make sure they had the last shot. Panebianco dribbled to the right side of the basket and put up a jumper that bounced on the rim before it falling through the hoop with three seconds on the clock. Potsdam inbounded the ball and Delsol-Lowry heaved up a shot from mid-court, but it hit the bottom of the scoreboard as the buzzer sounded to preserve the 76-74 win.

Junior guard Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) finished with 17 points, six boards and two steals. Kane and sophomore guard Aaron Armstrong (Lisbon, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington) each had six rebounds for a team-high. Thomas rounded out the leaders with seven points, four boards and four assists for the Bears.

Junior guard Quinn Carey (Ponte Vedra, Fla./Ponte Vedra) added 12 points, while Panebianco tacked on 10 points and five assists.

Geneseo shot 52-percent from the floor, while Potsdam shot 47-percent. The teams matched with 31 rebounds apiece.

Potsdam will host Plattsburgh State Tuesday night at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
