CANTON -- Senior Stephanie Collins (Colton, NY) tied a career-high with 16 saves for the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team, but she wasn't able to stop all of the opponent's chances as Geneseo defeated the Golden Knights, 5-0, in the North Country Classic nightcap on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Knights saw their record evened at 1-1 overall, while Geneseo started the season with the victory. Clarkson will play Lasell College tomorrow afternoon.
The Golden Knights trailed 1-0 at the half, but had been outshot 20-4 in the opening 45 minutes. Collins was able to keep Clarkson in the game, making 10 stops in the first half.
In the second half, Geneseo opened things up with goals in the 49th and 50th minutes, before tacking on extra scores in the 65th and 89th minutes.
Geneseo held a 34-8 edge in shots and owned an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.
