TROY, N.Y.—The Sage Colleges (4-3) scored late in the 104th minute to capture a hard fought 1-0 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (6-2-1) on Tuesday night. Bears freshman goalkeeper Gabby Hobika (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) made four saves.

The Bears pressured the Gators early, moving the ball well in the offensive zone. Potsdam created four shots and five corner kicks through the first 35 minutes of play. Sage managed to get three shots on goal before the end of the half, including a crossbar strike from freshman midfielder Lydia Malkiewicz. Both teams were unable to gain the upper hand, entering the half scoreless.

The teams continued to be evenly matched in the beginning of the second half. Both had two corner kicks and three shots in the first 17 minutes of the second. At 83:19, forward freshman Lexi Dean (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) blasted a shot on goal, but Sage senior goalie Emma Augustine (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) was able to handle it. This led to four Bears' corner kicks within two minutes. Unfortunately, they couldn't get the go-ahead marker.

Just 50 seconds into the first 10-minute overtime, the Gators were able to fire the first shot, but it sailed wide. Potsdam answered with the next two shots. Dean put the ball on goal, but again Augustine turned it aside. Two minutes later, junior midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport. N.Y./Brockport) had an opportunity, but ripped it over the net. Sage got the final opportunity in the first overtime from junior midfielder Dominique Puglisi (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia Glenville), but Hobika made the save.

At 103:18 of the second overtime, Gators' Puglisi passed it from 40 yards out to junior midfielder Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, N.Y./Canajoharie) who struck from the back post 12.

Augustine earned the win with five stops. The Bears outshot the Gators 11-10 and had an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bears will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh State to open conference play.
