Potsdam, NY – With 21 steals and 30 forced turnovers overall, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team was able to keep Bard College uncomfortable throughout Friday night's game, gaining a 73-46 Liberty League victory at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 6-4 and moved to 1-2 in the Liberty League, while the Raptors dropped to 5-7 overall and 0-3 in conference. Bard will face St. Lawrence tomorrow, while Clarkson will look to even its conference record when it hosts Vassar College.

The first possession of the game was an indicator of how things would go for the Golden Knights, as they received numerous second chances by being active on the offensive glass. In all, Clarkson had 16 offensive rebounds in the first half and also forced the Raptors into 18 turnovers with a strong full-court defense that caused four 10-second violations.

Clarkson never trailed in the game and took a 9-2 lead after a Devin Sorell 3-pointer at the 5:54 mark of the first quarter. Though Bard would ease its way back into the game, the Knights pushed an eight-point lead (20-12) to 16 with an 8-0 run over the course of two minutes, capped by an Alyssia Marsal jumper at the 4:53 mark of the second quarter. From that point on, the Golden Knights owned at least a double-digit lead.

In the last few games, Clarkson has jumped out to significant leads only to see its halftime edge diminish and make close games, but the Golden Knights wouldn't allow that to happen on Friday night. In the third quarter, Bard was able to keep the game close in the early going, but in the final five-plus minutes of the period Clarkson went on a 16-3 run to double up the Raptors, 60-30. The fourth quarter saw both benches empty as the teams played out the waning moments.

Four players finished in double figures for the Knights, led by Devin Sorell's 20 points on 7-for-14 shooting, which included five 3-pointers. Ashley Loggins finished a rebound short of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, while Alyssia Marsal chipped in 12 points. Madison Shea also had 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Along with her game-high 20 points, Sorell also added in three assists and five steals. Thanks to the turnover differential as well as 24 offensive rebounds, Clarkson was able to take 30 more shots than the Raptors.

For Bard, Bianka Bell led the way with 17 points, seven rebounds and five steals, while Tytravia Riley tallied her usual double-double with 14 points and 14 boards.
