POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Fredonia (8-5-1, 2-3-1 SUNYAC) scored in the 95th minute to upend the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (5-8, 1-5) 1-0 on Friday afternoon. Blue Devils senior forward Aaron Hayes (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) netted the contest's lone goal.

Potsdam dominated the first half, outshooting Fredonia 11-1. The pressure resulted in a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Just over six minutes into the contest, senior forward Ritchie Hetherington (Falkirk, Scotland/Herkimer C.C.) hit the post with a shot. The Blue Devils didn't get a shot on goal until the 41st minute, but Bears sophomore goalie Jakeb Mitchell (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) made the save. Fredonia sophomore goalie Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) turned aside four shots on the goal to keep the game scoreless at the half.

The play was much more balanced in the second half. The Bears tested Bentham four more times in the final period, including a chance with 10 seconds remaining, but he continued to frustrate Potsdam. Mitchell stopped two more shots in the second half for the Bears and the game remained even after 90 minutes.

Junior midfielder Jorge Ferrer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) fired Potsdam's last shot just wide 48 seconds into the extra session. Four minutes later, the Blue Devils sent a long, high kick ahead. The ball came down at the feet of Hayes and a Bears defender and Hayes was able to knock it home.

Bentham's eight saves earned him the shutout victory, while Mitchell finished with three.

Potsdam outshot Fredonia 18-9 and had six corners to the Blue Devils' four.

The Bears host Buffalo State tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
