St. Lawrence University head men's lacrosse coach Mike Mahoney has announced that the senior trio of Pierson Fowler, Marc Perroni and Sam Marvin will serve as captains for the upcoming 2014 season.
"We will be in great shape as a team with the leadership capabilities of our captains. Pierson, Marc and Sam have earned the respect of their teammates with their positive guidance both on and off the field," said Coach Mahoney. "They will certainly get a lot of support from their fellow seniors along with the rest of the upperclassmen to help shape the direction of this year's team."
The Saints are coming off of a 10-5 season last spring and were the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. Fowler was an all-conference selection for the second straight season in 2013, with his 16 goals in the midfield earning him first team honors. Perroni has come off the bench for the team's attack during his career with the Scarlet and Brown, and he scored two goals in 10 games as a junior. The Manchester, NH native is expected to see an increased role in his senior campaign. Finally, Marvin will anchor one of the stingiest defenses in the conference. The Shaftsbury, VT native played in all 15 games last spring, finishing with 29 ground balls and 21 turnovers.
St. Lawrence will open its 2014 season on March 1 in Greenwich, CT against Babson College.
