Brockport, NY - Four different players scored two goals and the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team rattled off five straight goals in the fourth quarter as the Golden Knights earned a 12-7 victory over Brockport in non-league action on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 1-1 overall with their second straight game against a SUNYAC opponent, while the Golden Eagles fell to 1-2 on the season, their second straight loss to a Liberty League foe. Clarkson will continue run against SUNYAC teams on Tuesday when it hosts crosstown rival Potsdam State at Hantz Turf Field.

Just like Wednesday, the Golden Knights defense got off to a strong start and Clarkson's offense was able to take advantage of the first-period shutout. Matt Gold (Pittsford, NY) and Mark Nortz (Lowville, NY) opened the scoring for the Knights in the opening quarter and Peter Goss (Jamesville, NY) and Nortz added goals in the opening moments of the second to give Clarkson a 4-0 lead. Though the Golden Eagles would finally get on the scoreboard at the 11:19 mark, they would never be able to catch the Knights.

In the first minute of the fourth quarter, Brockport used a Steve Brissette goal to rally back to within one goal, 6-5, but Clarkson rattled off four goals in less than four minutes to quickly alter the momentum. Robert Linder (Marcellus, NY) scored at 13:40 and Corey Herrington (Camillus, NY) scored just a few seconds later to change the outlook of the contest. Goss added another goal two minutes later and Dylan Hrebenach (Saratoga Springs, NY) finished off the 4-0 run at 10:12. Just for good measure, Ryan St. Croix (Camillus, NY) added a fifth consecutive goal for Clarkson at the 5:41 mark, leaving the outcome in little doubt.

Nortz finished with a team-best four points on two goals and two assists, while Linder, St. Croix, and Goss each scored a pair of goals. Hrebenach and Gold each had a goal and an assist, while Herrington and freshman Ryan Darin (Manlius, NY) each tallied a score. Junior Dylan Broomfield (Clinton, NY) had an impressive day in the midfield, winning 13 of his 21 draws and scooping up 10 groundballs. For Brockport, John Countryman scored three goals and Brissette added a pair of goals.

Clarkson owned a 39-31 edge in shots, a 31-23 lead in groundballs, and won 13 of the 22 faceoffs. Harrison Washuta (Maple Grove, MN) had another solid game in net for the Knights, making 12 saves and picking up four groundballs. Conor Nowak made 15 saves for Brockport.
