For the third straight game, the St. Lawrence women's hockey team handed an ECAC Hockey opponent its first conference loss of the season, as four third-period goals propelled the Saints to a 7-3 win against Princeton on the road. With the win, St. Lawrence improves to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the ECAC, while Princeton drops to 6-2-1 and 4-1-0.

Jenna Marks (1g, 2a), Brooke Webster (2g), Kirsten Padalis (2a) and Kailee Heidersbach (2a) each had multi-point nights for the Saints, while senior goaltender Carmen MacDonald finished with 25 saves, including one on a penalty shot, en route to her sixth win of the season.

"It was a back-and-forth game that had the feel of last goal wins," Head Coach Chris Wells said. "Both goalies made game-changing saves; Newell made a fantastic play on Marchment when were up 3-1, and Carmen stopped the penalty shot right after we went up 4-3."

At the 11:40 mark of the first period, after more than a minute of sustained pressure in the Princeton zone, Kayla Raniwsky played the puck from along the half wall to Padalis on the point. The sophomore blueliner sent a slapshot on goal and although Kimberly Newell made the initial save, she kicked the rebound out to the right hashmarks where Jenna Marks was able to one time the rebound home for her seventh goal of the year.

The Tigers tied the game just eight seconds into the middle frame on a goal by Hillary Lloyd, but it took the Saints just 41 seconds to retake the lead as senior forward Jacqueline Wand buried her first goal of the season with assists going to Kennedy Marchment and Megan Armstrong.

Brooke Webster pushed the Saints lead to 3-1 midway through the second when she deflected a shot by Amanda Boulier at the right side of the net for her seventh of the year. Alex Moore also assisted on the play.

Princeton added a pair of goals to even things at three heading into the second intermission but that would be all they would get behind the Saints' senior netminder.

Padalis and Marks set up Heidersbach on the power play, as the junior deflected a shot from the left side of the crease, for the first of the Saints four goals in the third period to make it 4-3 with 14:43 to play.

Twenty-one seconds later, Moore was whistled for tripping and Princeton was awarded a penalty shot. Cristin Shanahan approached MacDonald with speed and tried to get her to lean right and tuck it under her left pad on the backhand, but the Pictou, Nova Scotia native stayed with her the whole way and made the stop to keep the Saints in front.

Later in the period, Raniwsky pushed the lead to 5-3 when she tucked the puck under Newell's pads from the top of the crease.

After the Tigers pulled Newell for an extra attacker, Webster put her second of the night into the net to make it 6-3 in favor of the Saints. Sydney Bell added the final goal for the visitors – her second of the season – on a feed from Marks with just over a minute to play.

In total, 11 Saints found their way on to the score sheet on Friday night and the team finished with a 42-28 edged in shots on goal. Newell finished with 35 saves for Princeton.

"It was a good team win," Wells added. "We'll have to buckle up tomorrow when we head up to play Quinnipiac. They're playing some great hockey."

The Saints are set to faceoff with the Bobcats, who are undefeated are currently undefeated on the season at 10-0-1 and 5-0-0 against ECAC Hockey opponents, at 4 p.m. in Hamden, Conn.
