Four Saints volleyball team members earn Liberty League All-Conference

The Liberty League announced its annual award recipients for volleyball on Monday, and four St. Lawrence student-athletes were among the All-Conference selections. Sophomore Lexi Brown earned First Team honors while Cristina Deschaine, Rebecca Doser and captain Jenna Street earned Honorable Mention.

"Having four student-athletes chosen to the All-Conference teams speaks highly of our program," said St. Lawrence head coach Shelly Roiger. "The strength of our season was our offensive balance, driven by Jenna's play at the setter position. Lexi was our go-to player in clutch moments, and both Rebecca and Cristina made great contributions at the net both offensively and defensively."

Brown, a Second Team choice last fall, was seventh in the Liberty League in kills per set (2.67) and had a team-high 312 kills as a sophomore. The Sayville, NY native also added 158 digs and remained one of the top hitting threats in the conference.

Deschaine and Doser had solid seasons both offensively and defensively for the Scarlet and Brown in their second seasons. Deschaine was third in the league in total blocks with 67 and hit .264, sixth in the conference for percentage. She closed with 199 digs and 72 blocks. Doser was also in the top-10 in the Liberty League in both blocks per set (9th) and hitting percentage (7th), and posted 228 kills and 62 blocks in 2013. It is the first All-Conference recognition for both Deschaine and Doser.

Finally, Street earned All-Conference honors for the first time as well, finishing fifth in the league in assists per set (5.39). The Liverpool, NY native closed with 615 assists, a new career-high, 235 digs and 39 aces.

The Liberty League's Player of the Year for 2013 is Lani Durio, Clarkson University's star setter, while the Golden Knights' Coaching Staff of Johan Dulfer and Lauren Crump earned Coaching Staff of the Year as well following their Liberty League regular season and tournament titles. Sarah Szybist of RIT was named the Rookie of the Year. The All-Conference recipients included:
