Four Knights selected to Liberty League men's hoops All-Star squad

A 17-victory season by the Clarkson University Men’s Basketball team caught the eyes of the Liberty League coaches, as four members of the Golden Knights’ squad were chosen as Liberty League All-Stars on Thursday.

Sophomore John Coleman (Potsdam, NY), junior Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY), graduate student Jerry Coleman (Potsdam, NY) and freshman Felix Abongo (Beacon, NY) all earned end of the year honors from the conference.

John Coleman led the way as a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star member, leading the Golden Knights in scoring and rebounding with 15.0 ppg and 6.5 rpg. He led the Knights in scoring on 12 occasions and topped the team in rebounding in 14 games during the 2012-13 season. Coleman also led the conference in steals with 58 (2.3 spg) and ranked among the top 30 in the nation in field goal percentage (59.4%).

Charlton and Jerry Coleman each were picked as Liberty League Honorable Mention All-Stars. Charlton averaged 13.8 ppg and led the team in scoring on seven occasions in 2012-13, including the single-game high for the Knights (32 points vs. Vassar). He also led the team with 86 assists and ranked fourth in the conference in free throw percentage at 84.2%. Coleman buried 49 3-point field goals, the sixth-best figure in the league, and averaged 14.5 ppg, the seventh-ranked figure in the Liberty League.

Abongo was chosen unanimously as a Liberty League All-Rookie team member, averaging 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He also shot 46.1% from the field, the top figure among all newcomers in 2012-13. Additionally, Abongo tied for the team lead in blocks (16) and was second in assists with 66.
