Four Knights named to Hockey Canada

Four veteran standouts of the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team – Erin Ambrose, Renata Fast, Shannon MacAulay and Cayley Mercer – are among the 22 players that were named to Hockey Canada's national development team for an upcoming series vs. the United States.

The team was selected from a group of 43 players who participated in Canada's national women's development team selection camp, which was held from August 6-15 in Calgary, Alberta. The players are now headed to Lake Placid, N.Y. where they'll face off against their U.S. rivals August 19-23. The series against the United States will be used to evaluate players for potential invitations to Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival from Sept. 13-20 in Calgary.

Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) and Fast (Burlington, ONT) are senior defenseman for the Golden Knights, while MacAulay (Mt. Herbert, PEI) is a senior forward and the Green and Gold's captain. Mercer (Exeter, ONT) is entering her junior campaign at Clarkson after red-shirting in her first year in Potsdam.

The four Knights give Clarkson the most players representing a U.S. college on Canada's national team.

Clarkson assistant coach Britni Smith is serving as an assistant coach for Canada's National Women's Under-18 team, which will also be playing in Lake Placid in late August.
