Four Clarkson University Women's Hockey standouts, who helped the Golden Knights win the 2014 NCAA National Championship this past March, juniors Erin Ambrose, Renata Fast, Shannon MacAulay and Cayley Mercer are among forty-two players who have been invited to Canada's National Women's Development Team Selection Camp to be held in Calgary in mid-August.
Ambrose, a defender from Keswick, ONT, Fast a defender from Burlington, ONT and MacAulay, a forward from Mt. Herbert, PEI, will take part in several practices, intrasquad games, off-ice dryland training, fitness testing and high performance classroom sessions from Aug. 8-17 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. Also invited to the camp, Mercer (Exeter, ONT) will be unable to attend.
Following the selection camp, the 42 invitees will be cut down to a 22-player roster, which will face off against the United States' Women's Under-22 Select Team in a three-game series, Aug. 21-24.
Players will continue to be scouted by Hockey Canada and the national team's coaching staff following the three-game series' completion in preparation for selecting the Canadian team that will compete in Germany at the 2015 Meco Cup next January.
