Potsdam, NY – Freshman Sam Zagrobelny (East Aurora, NY) and senior Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) each won a pair of events for the men while Jillian Brown (Kenmore, NY) and Kelly Mulvehill (Penfield, NY) notched two wins each for the women as the Clarkson University Swim team split a dual meet against St. Michael’s Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.
The Golden Knights’ men claimed a 132-89 victory, while St. Michael’s scratched out a 112-103 win over the women. Clarkson will participate in the annual North Country Invitational held at Potsdam State’s Maxcy Hall next weekend.
Zagrobelny’s two winning events were split by a diving competition, but the freshman nevertheless hit the pad first in his two individual events, taking the 200 individual medley in 2:26.65 before claiming first in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.34. Parnett also took a pair of individual races, winning the 100 and 200 freestyles with times of 58.03 and 2:07.57, respectively. Other individual winners were Paul Telesca (Liverpool, NY) in the 50 freestyle (25.26), Tyler Nichols (Spencerport, NY) in the 100 backstroke (1:06.27), and Jon Ketcham (East Aurora, NY) in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.31).
On the women’s side, Brown won the two sprint freestyle races, finishing in 29.35 seconds in the 50 free and in 1:05.11 in the 100 free. Mulvehill took care of the distance events, opening the day with a win in the 800 free (10:36.56) and later gaining a victory in the 400 free (5:12.08). Kelly Ludeke (Burnt Hills, NY) also earned a win for the Golden Knights, finishing first in the 200 individual medley in 2:47.26.
