POTSDAM -- The Clarkson University Athletic Department kicked off the fall season this past weekend and saw numerous outstanding performances. Monday afternoon four different Golden Knight athletes gained Liberty League Weekly honors in leading the Green and Gold to a 7-1 weekend.

Leading the way was sophomore setter Lani Durio (Austin, TX) of the Clarkson Volleyball team, as she was named to the North Country Volleyball Classic All-Tournament team and as the Liberty League Co-Performer of the Week. Durio led the Knights to a 4-0 weekend and averaged 9.77 assists per set (127 total). She also added 10 aces (a team-high), 10 digs, and 9 kills.

For the Clarkson Women's Soccer team, junior midfielder Sarah Andres (Honeoye, NY) was chosen as the Liberty League Co-Defensive Performer of the Week. As the key cog in the Golden Knights defensive efforts over the weekend, Andres helped limit the Knights' opponents to just 12 shots and no goals. Clarkson claimed its first-ever tournament title in winning the North Country Classic, as the Knights defeated SUNYIT 3-0 and Cortland State 1-0 in what proved to be the championship game.

Leading the way for the Clarkson Men's Soccer program, freshman Trevor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY) earned Liberty League Rookie of the Week honor. Blackwell scored Clarkson's lone goal of the weekend, tallying on a header to give the Knights a 1-0 victory over Oneonta State.

For the Clarkson Golf team, freshman Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) shared the honor of Liberty League Rookie of the Week. Cline finished in a tie for second at the SLU Triangular two-day event, shooting a 153. During Sunday's second round, Cline paced the field with a 75 at Potsdam Town & Country Club.
