Clarkson University Hockey alumnus Brandon DeFazio '11 will look to make the most of his recent signing with the Vancouver Canucks as he strives to become the next former Golden Knight to reach the National Hockey League.
A 6-1, 215-pound undrafted forward, DeFazio played last year in the New York Islanders' organization, skating for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League. In 69 games during the 2012-13 season, he collected 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists along with accumulating 139 penalty minutes.
A career AHL'er, DeFazio has played 137 games (22-19-41) for both the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Bridgeport.
A native of Oakville, ONT., DeFazio was a tough, rugged forward for Clarkson, playing in 141 career games from 2007-11. He recorded 77 points on 36 goals and 41 assists, and posted 176 penalty minutes.
