Senior Dom DeRegis recorded 19 points and four other members of the Saints' squad netted double digits to lead the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 92-83 win over Ursinus College in game one of the Hilton Scranton Invitational on Saturday evening in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

DeRegis, who went 6-for-12 from the floor and 3-for-8, from the arc tallied 19 points, while classmates Chris Miner and Ben Crawford recorded 15 and 14, respectively. Miner also posted a team-high eight rebounds, while Crawford grabbed five. Graduate student Riley Naclerio and first-year Luke Hicks closed out the double-digit scoring with 11 points each. DeRegis and Miner both grabbed two steals for the Saints.

Naclerio contributed to the Saints high-scoring opening minutes, by recording three 3-pointers in the first two and a half minutes of play, giving the Saints an 11-4 lead by the 17:33 mark.

After quickly extending their lead into double figures, first-year Jordan Huntley drained the 3-pointer to give the Saints a 26-14 lead with just over 12 minutes to play in the first half.

Christopher Jeffrey extended the Saints lead to 30-16 with the tip-in basket with about nine minutes remaining in the first.

Huntley went up for another three, but the shot bounced back to Miner, who capitalized for the put back to give the Scarlet and Brown a 45-30 lead with two minutes to play. DeRegis then gave the Saints a 19-point lead with a 3-pointer with 29 seconds to play.

St. Lawrence maintained its advantage and held a 51-36 lead at halftime.

Ursinus made quick work after the break to cut the Saints lead to ten, but Hicks sunk the three giving St. Lawrence back a 13-point advantage with about 17 minutes to play. The Bears continued to apply pressure against the Saints closing the gap to eight points and returning to their closest margin (six points) with about 14 minutes to play.

The Bears worked hard in an attempt to rally down the stretch, but were unable to overcome the Saints lead. Ursinus came as close as just five points, but the Scarlet and Brown maintained the lead for the entire game.

Eric Williams Jr. went 7-for-15 from the floor and lead the Bears with 23 points, while Shane Stark and Ryan McTamney posted 18 and 14 points, respectively. Stark also lead Ursinus with eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

The Saints finished with 17 points off turnovers and 35 points of the bench, while shooting 52 percent from the floor and 47 percent from the arc.

With the win, the Saints improved to 1-1 on the season, while Ursinus fell to 1-2.

St. Lawrence will face the winner of the Scranton-Hartwick 7:30 p.m. matchup in tomorrow's Hilton Scranton Invitational championship game at 4 p.m.
