Five Roos men’s soccer players earn awards from USCAA

Newport News, VA – Five players from the SUNY Canton men's soccer team earned awards from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), headlined by Nick Escalante (Whittier, CA) earning Second Team All-American accolades for the second consecutive season.

The junior forward led the team in points (37), goals (14), assists (9) and game-winning goals (4). He tied the top mark for individual goals in a game in NCAA Division III scoring all five Roo goals in a shutout against Berkeley College (NY) on October 4, 2014. Overall, he ranks tied for 22nd in the NCAA and 14th in the USCAA with 14 goals. Meanwhile, his nine assists tie for 33rd individually in Division III and rank him 12th in the USCAA.

Joining Escalante as an All-American is Hunter Mowery (Elizabethtown, NY), who earned a spot on the Honorable Mention Team. The captain posted 12 points on three goals and six assists this season, both of which ranked second on the team. His six assists ranked him 36th in the USCAA.

Captain Jordan Barriere (Chazy, NY), Tyler Gallagher (Potsdam, NY) and Jose Menendez (Maracay, Venezeula) all earned spots on the USCAA All-Academic Team, for being an upperclassmen and maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or better.
