Five baseball players record two hits but fast start carries Keystone past Roos, 13-8

Port Charlotte, FL – Five different players recorded two hits for the Roos but 10 runs over the first two innings helped lead Keystone College to a 13-8 win over the SUNY Canton baseball team on Friday.

The Giants (5-5) scored three runs in the first and added seven in the second inning to take an early 10-0 lead. The Roos (2-7) chipped away at the lead with five runs of their own in the fourth inning. Collin Lynk placed a 2 RBI single in center field to score Joseph Dwy and Brett Hoberman. Fernando Santana followed with an RBI double to plate Lynk and Trevor Keleher singled through the left side scoring Ben Miller and Santana scored following a Travis Schindler ground out into a double play.

Keystone added two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh before Canton rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Miller doubled to center field scoring Lynk and Edward Malinoski, Jr., and Fernando Santana singled home Brian Santana.

Lynk, Keleher, Fernando Santana, Brett Hoberman and Joseph Campbell all finished with two hits apiece for the Roos, while Lynk, Miller and Fernando Santana drove in a pair of runs each.

Brandon Bautista took the loss on the mound giving up 10 runs, only three of which were earned, over 1.2 innings. McFadden earned the win for Keystone giving up seven earned runs over 6.2 innings.

The baseball team closes out its play in Florida on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. when it squares off with Susquehanna.
