Just 23 seconds later the Cardinals' Chance Gates struck on the man advantage for a 7-4 lead. At 4:58, senior attackman Lukas Baildon (Berlin, Germany/JFKS Berlin) answered with man-up goal on helper from Orsini. With just a second on the clock Gates struck again to give Fisher an 8-5 lead after 45 minutes.
Soderquist buried his second just 35 seconds into the final quarter to make it 8-6, but a 3-0 run over the next nine minutes put Fisher in command at 11-6 with 5:02 to play. Sophomore Nick Slate (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) closed out the scoring with a man-up tally on an assist from Orsini with 4:01 left.
Potsdam junior goalie Sean Coe (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was impressive with 14 saves in his first career start. Cardinals goalie Justin Townsend made eight saves to earn the win.
