First-year Laura Finley hit an RBI single to right center in the top of the sixth inning of game two against the Union Dutchwomen on Saturday afternoon to help the Saints to a 3-2 win and a split of the Liberty League doubleheader. The Saints are now 11-9 overall, while Union is 9-14. Both teams are 4-4 against conference opponents.

After three scoreless innings, Union scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth in game one, including three on home run by Camille Corbin. The other two runs came from a two-out single by Courtney Casey.

The Saints responded with a run of their own in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by senior Aisha O'Connor that plated sophomore Carly Dziekan to make it 5-1, but couldn't put any more across.

Brady Cooper and Finley had two hits each for the Scarlet and Brown in the first game. Emma Gailey had 2 1/3 innings of relief of Kyle Plimpton, who took the loss. She gave up six hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out three in 3 2/3 innings of work.

In game two, the Saints built a 2-0 lead with a run in each of the first two innings on RBI doubles by first-year Emma Reakes and Dziekan, respectively. But Union answered with an RBI double of its own off the bat of Allyson Staats and then got an RBI single from Corbin to erase the deficit and tie the game at 2-2.

O'Connor led off the sixth inning with a double to center and would advance to third on a sacrifice bunt by Reakes before coming around to score the game-winning run on Finley's single.

The win is Plimpton's tenth of the season, as she threw a complete game allowing eight hits and two earned runs with striking out two batters.

The Saints will travel to RPI for a doubleheader with the Engineers tomorrow, April 19, with the first pitch set for 1:00 pm. You can watch the action live through RPI TV at www.rpitv.org
