Canton, NY – Anthony Filoso scored a pair of short-handed goals, including the game-winner 12 minutes, 45 seconds into the third period to lift the SUNY Canton men's hockey team to a 4-3 win v. Buffalo State.

The goals were the first collegiate tallies for Filoso and the Roos first short-handed goals of the season as they finish the season 14-9-2, the best season in the NCAA D-III era.

THE BASICS

Result: SUNY Canton 4, Buffalo State 3

Location: Roos House – Canton, NY

Records: SUNY Canton (14-9-2) | Buffalo State (11-12-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ryan Edgar scored twice and Troy Button added the Bengals second power play tally of the night as the visitors led 3-0 at the 14:05 mark of the second period.

After a misplay by the Bengals goaltender behind his own goal, Filoso finished into an open net to get the Roos on the board at 14:37 of the second.

Canton got within one three minutes later on the power play. Tyson Bruce kept the puck in the zone and Zach Pease fed it along the near boards to Max Routledge. He worked behind the net finding a cutting Kyler Matthews out in front who finished a one-timer top shelf past Bengals goaltender Tyler Myers.

The Roos knotted the game at 3-3 midway through the third period. Sean David stood up a Bengal defenseman in front of the Buffalo State net leaving the puck for Routledge who finished off his fourth goal of the season.

Filoso scored the game-winner at 12:45 when Marcus Baird fed a break out pass up ice on the penalty kill as Filoso chased it down and slipped the puck in the net as Myers fell backwards in goal.

Austin Washkurak posted 20 saves in his fourth win of the season, while Myers made 35 stops in defeat.
