Senior goaltender Pat Nagle posted a 26-save shutout as Ferris State skated to a 3-0 NCAA Division I hockey victory over St. Lawrence at Big Rapids, MI Saturday night, completing a weekend sweep of the Saints.

Ferris improves to 3-1-0 overall while the Saints, who will host another CCHA opponent, Western Michigan, in their home openers Friday and Saturday, fall to 0-2-2.

The Bulldogs turned in a solid defensive effort in front of Nagle to help stifle the Saint offense and cashed in on a couple of bouncing pucks to grab the early lead.

Defenseman Zach Redmond picked off a Saint pass that bounced off a pad at the Saint blue line and broke in on Saint rookie goalie Matt Weninger 12:20 into the first period, snapping a shot which caromed in off the far post for his second goal of the year.

The puck came off the end boards and was poked past Weninger in a scramble in front of the net at the 1:44 mark of the second period as Nate Hennig was right at the post and tucked it in, and it went to 3-0 on a power play at 18:22 as defenseman Derek Graham took a shot from the center point which beat Weninger along the ice for the 3-0 lead.

The Saints went to junior Joe Spadaccini in net for the third period and the Canton native was outstanding in his first official NCAA appearance, stopping all ten shots he faced including a couple from point blank range.

"We obviously need to work on a lot of things after this weekend," said Saint coach Joe Marsh. "Hopefully we can get some guys healthy, get some systems in place and build from there. Ferris is an excellent team and I think they showed it in both games this weekend."

The Bulldogs outshot the Saints 34-26 for the game and were scored on one of four power plays while the Saints were scoreless in five power play attempts including a five minute major early in the third period.
