FC Freeze's Olivia Mace, at left, maintains ball control during Monday's game. Olivia is staying with her family in Colton for the summer.

On Monday FC Freeze Girls (1-0-1) played to a 4-4 ties against the Upstate United SC Duck’s Dynasty (2-0-1) in a league game in Watertown.

FC Freeze controlled the ball early but gave up a breakaway goal to Duck’s Dynasty with a shot over keeper Katharine Cowen’s head. Six minutes later Annie Atkins made a centering pass to Gabrielle Jones whose strong shot found the back of the Duck’s net.

Minutes later Natalie Cowen threaded a pass to Olivia Mace who blasted a shot into the lower left corner of the net. Duck’s Dynasty then had another breakaway and scored a goal high above the keeper’s outstretched hands. The Ducks scored a go-ahead goal late in the first half. Mace then tied the score just prior to half-time.

In the second half Mace was able to dribble through traffic and make a pinpoint pass to Jones who rifled a shot over the keeper’s right shoulder. With ten minutes remaining in the game the Ducks tied the score up with a goal just out of the reach of keeper Sophia Janoyan.

FC Freeze continued to control the ball yet didn’t connect with the back of the net.

Mace led the team with eight shots on goal.

FC Freeze travel to Philadelphia, N.Y. to take on the Indian River United Soccer Club on Thursday.
