The fourth quarter was the Red Dragon's best of the game offensively, but they were unable to pick enough ground to make the difference. Oneonta started final 15 minutes with a 3-1 run to close the gap to 9-6 with 5:43 to play. Freshman attackman Matt Miles (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) sandwiched two goals around a Oneonta won the opening faceoff and worked the ball around the Potsdam zone to start the game. Gropp set the tone early, stonewalling Red Dragon junior midfielder Daniel King (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) on the contest's first shot. After a few opening minute jitters, the Bears' offense went to work with five goals in a row. Soderquist opened the scoring at 8:59 with an assist junior attackman Berkley Stone (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand). Senior faceoff specialist Brandon Grace (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) won the ensuing faceoff and Soderquist struck again at 7:25. After another Grace faceoff win, Potsdam went on its first man-up opportunity of the day. Senior captain Pat Bonafede (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) fed Soderquist at 6:07 to make it a 3-0 game. Less than two minutes later, POTSDAM, N.Y.—Sophomore attackman Eric Soderquist (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) scored five goals as the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (7-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) defeated SUNY Oneonta (4-4, 0-1) 11-7 on Saturday afternoon. The win was the program record seventh straight for the Bears and matches 1984's best start in program history at 7-1. Senior captain Ed Doherty (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) scored three goals and in goal, fellow senior captain Pete Gropp (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) stopped nine shots for his 13th career win.

Oneonta slowly shifted the momentum after the goal, beginning with its second faceoff win of the day. King got the Red Dragons on the board at 2:03 and it was 5-1 after 15 minutes.
Doherty man-up marker. The three scores came at 10:49, 8:13 and 6:19, respectively. King buried his second of the game at 5:43 to make it a three-goal contest. With 2:49 left, Soderquist scored his fifth of the day and team-leading 21st of the season. Just 42 seconds later, senior attackman Connor Coyle (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) got the Red Dragons to with in 10-7. However, penalty trouble allowed the Bears to play most of the remainder of the contest a man up and Doherty buried his third with 35 seconds to go to close out the 11-7 win.
Adler matched Gropp with nine stops. Kickel had a team-high five points on a goal and four helpers for Oneonta.
Grace finished with a 13-6 record in the faceoff circle and senior long-stick middie Lindsey Pound (Henderson, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) was a perfect 3-for-3 on faceoffs to go with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Martin finished with a contest-best eight ground balls.
The Bears topped the Red Dragons in shots (37-25) and ground balls (33-28). Potsdam was 4-for-7 in extra-man situations and Oneonta was just 0-for-1.
The Bears look to keep rolling when they host SUNY Canton (3-4) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
